A stay in Taormina is an ideal choice for visiting the entire Eastern part of Sicily. Indeed the town is located right in the centre of the famous Ionic coast. The short distance to the motorway and the Catania airport and the good train connections make Taormina a perfect starting point for excursions in the Eastern area and the small Islands.

All suggested destinations are reachable in about 1 to 2 hours.

PANAREA STROMBOLI – EXCURSIONS

ITINERARY: TAORMINA, MILAZZO, ISOLE. Stop on the island of Panarea after an amazing view of the Bay of Calajunco. Visit of the small village, lunch break and then boat transfer to Stromboli. At sunset a pasta dish will be served on board before approaching the “sciara del fuoco” where the volcanic eruptions can be admired. Return to Milazzo and then on to Taormina Available

MESSINA TINDARI MILAZZO – EXCURSIONS

Before arriving at Tindari there will be a stop in Messina in order to visit the cathedral, with it's mechanical clok which is the largest in the world, the church af the Annunziata and Cristo Re with a shocking landscape on Messina strait. In Tindari we will visit the Black Madonna And the archeological site. On returning to Taormina we will stop at the medieval quarter of Milazzo.

ETNA NORD CRATERE CENTRALE – EXCURSIONS

ITINERARY: TAORMINA, ETNA Driving via Piedimonte and Linguaglossa we will arrive at Piano Provenzana from where, travelling by jeep through expanses of lava, we will reach the vicinity of central crater, where you can admire the splendid panoramic. After a lunch stop, we return to Taormina.

ALCANTARA- CASTIGLIONE – EXCURSIONS

ITINERARY: TAORMINA, ALCANTARA, CASTIGLIONE. A first stop at the Alcantara Gorges , then continuing to Castiglione di Sicilia, visit the historical centre. We return to Taormina via Linguaglossa and Piedimonte.

PALERMO- MONREALE- EXCURSIONS

ITINERARY: TAORMINA, CATANIA,MONREALE, PALERMO A visit to the Cathedral and Benedictine Cloister in Monreale and the Norman palace , the Palatine Chapel and the Cathedral in Palermo. After a stop for lunch there is a walking tour of the City; St. John of the Hermitis, Pretoria Square, Martorana, St. Cataldo. We then return to Taormina.

SIRACUSA- EXCURSIONS

ITINERARY: TAORMINA, SIRACUSA, CATANIA. Visit the monumental park of the Neapolis: the Greek Theatre, Dionysius’ Ear, the Roman Amphitheatre, the Altar of Hero. The Island of Ortigia: the Cathedral, the Fountain of Arethusa and the Temple of Apollo. After lunch, departure for Catania, orientation tour of the city and proceed along the Coast of the Cyclops (Acicastello – Acitrezza) with direction Giarre for a visit to an old Sicilian jewellers workshop, a unique opportunity to see local pieces of jewellery. After a special welcome cocktail, enjoy the wide choice of precious stone, gold, Mediterranean coral, Sicilian amber and lava stone jewellery. Return to the hotel.

LIPAR VULCANO- EXCURSIONS

ITINERARY: TAORMINA, MILAZO, LIPARI, VULCANO Free time to visit the Museum or take a stroll through the quaint street, then we proceed to Vulcano by boat, where it is possible to bathe in the hot sulphur waters. After a stop for lunch, we return to Taormina via Milazzo.

ETNA SUD – EXCURSIONS

ITINERARY: TAORMINA, SANTA VENERINA, ZAFFERANA. Following the motorway Messina/Catania as far as the exit for Giarre, we will pass by the Etna villages of Santa Venerina and Zafferana to a height of about 6.175 feet, where you can admire the Silvestri Craters. Possibility of ascent by jeep to the proximity of the central crater (Torre del filosofo area). After a stop for lunch, proceed to Giarre for a visit to an old Sicilian jewellers workshop, a unique opportunity to see local pieces of jewellery. After a special welcome cocktail, enjoy the wide choice of precious stone, gold, Mediterranean coral, Sicilian amber and lava stone jewellery. Return to the hotel.

AGRIGENTO- PIAZZA ARMERINA – EXCURSIONS

ITINERARY: TAORMINA, CATANIA, CALTANISSETTA, AGRIGENTO, PIAZZA ARMERINA. The city, of Greek origin, is noted for its famous Valley of the Temples. The visit included the temples of Concord, Juno, Heracles , Olimpiazeus , Castor and Pollux. Stop for lunch then continue to Piazza Armerina to visit the mosaics of The Roman Villa of Casale. Return to Taormina.

ETNA TRAMONTO – EXCURSIONS

ITINERARY: TAORMINA, ETNA. We reach the height of 6.175 ft either south or north side before continuing by jeep to the permitted height. After a stop for dinner, return to Taormina. 

SANT’ALESSIO – SAVOCA AND FORZA D’AGRO’-EXURSIONS

ITINERARY: SANT’ALESSIO, SAVOCA AND FORZA D’AGRO’. A delightful half-day trip to the fascination catacombs of the Cappuccini convent in Savoca and Bar Vitelli-used in the shooting of the “God-father” in 1971. including a walking tour through the peaceful streets, churches and ruined Norman caste of Forza d’ Agrò with a wonderful landscape of Calabria, Messina and Taormina.
