Description
The Villa Gaia Hotel is located in the center of Taormina, just a few steps from the Duomo, and surrounded by all the architectural beauties guarded in the "Pearl of the Ionian Sea".
The villa was built in 1928 on the initiative of Alice Crook, a Mexican noblewoman who fell head over heels in love with Taormina. After the Second World War, the villa was bought by Valentino Atenasio, an illustrious Taormina local who began making extensions to the building, in order to host friends and travellers. This tradition of hospitality has been passed on from generation to generation until today, with grandchildren Giusy and Valentino welcoming guests with the same affection and professionalism as yesterday.
This welcoming Taormina hotel is hosted in a very special villa, rich with typically Sicilian decorative elements including ceramics, bas-relief works in stone and terracotta, and details in wrought iron.
The communal areas are bright and spacious, such as the reception with its terracotta tiles and Rattan sofas and tables. The splendid garden surrounding the villa, protected by an old fence made of wrought iron and dressed stone, is typically Mediterranean, with scented citrus trees, jasmine and hibiscus flowers. Guests may enjoy their breakfast in the open air, on the garden terrace provided with chairs and mosaic-decorated tables.
